WWE star Lyra Valkyria‘s fiancé, LJ Cleary, has suffered a major setback in his wrestling career. The Irish wrestler recently revealed that he suffered an injury that will require surgery. Moreover, it will keep him out of action for several months.
The injury comes at a particularly bad time for Cleary. He had been building his name through appearances across several major wrestling promotions.
In 2026, the Irish wrestler competed for both ROH and TNA. His most recent outing came at TNA Bound For Glory, where he competed in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Match. Cleary also took part in a WWE tryout in 2025.
After building so much momentum throughout 2026, this injury is a major setback for what was shaping up to be an important year in his career.
Cleary took to X and announced that he is expected to miss between nine and 12 months of in-ring action. He also admitted that the timing makes the injury even harder to deal with. He wrote:
“Absolutely breaks my heart to have to post this. As of this morning I’ve been diagnosed with an injury that requires surgery and will have me out for 9-12 months.
There’s never a good time to get hurt, but it particularly stings right now as I was on the roll of my career, having the best year of my career as a whole with some big things lined up.
But this is the nature of the game, thank you for everyone that’s ever supported me up till now, this is a minor speed bump in the grand scheme of this beautiful life
See you all soon x”
Despite the disappointment, Cleary stayed positive and described the injury as a small speed bump in the bigger picture.
