The New York Jets’ defensive line took a hit in their loss to the Miami Dolphins. One of their top interior defensive linemen, T’Vondre Sweat, sprained his knee in the second quarter against Miami and is now headed to injured reserve, ruling him out for at least the next four games.
Through the first seven weeks of the season, Sweat’s PFF grade was in the top 20 among interior defensive linemen. His strength is run defense, where he had a PFF grade of 67.8, although he has struggled against the pass this year, with a 59.1 PFF grade. He also has only seven pressures this season.
In a corresponding move, the Jets signed defensive lineman Payton Page out of Clemson to the active roster. Page played four games with New York last season. He had six tackles in those games, including a tackle for loss against the New England Patriots. Page spent all of training camp with the Jets and was signed to their practice squad at the beginning of September.
