Dana White insists he released Shakur Stevenson

Dana White was silent on Shakur Stevenson’s Zuffa Boxing exit throughout UFC 333 fight week.

The UFC CEO refused to explain why they parted ways, but insisted it was an option first presented by him when he broke his silence on the situation.

“Well, I offered him his release,” White said during his post-fight press conference at UFC 333.

“Listen, man, I think that everybody who is involved is happy with where we are at with it.

“I have nothing bad to say about him or his team, but I offered him the release, and they accepted.

“We never even did one fight with the guy. We were in business with him for a couple of months.

“I’m not gonna get into any of this s—. I’m not going to say anything negatively about him, or say we tried to do this, or we tried to do that.

“We got to a position where we both agree we were cool with the release.”

Shakur Stevenson claims he initiated his Zuffa Boxing release

Shakur Stevenson insisted he requested to be released from Dana White’s boxing league on Monday.

The WBO junior welterweight champion cited Zuffa Boxing’s inability to get him fights as the reason for his decision to initiate a parting of ways.

“I’ve been in camp for like eight weeks for fights that I was told would happen that have not happened,” Stevenson wrote on social media.

“But this is the business of boxing. I’m not mad at anyone or pointing any fingers. But upon all of these issues and things, I requested to be released from Zuffa Boxing, and over the weekend my request was granted, and I’m officially a free agent.”
