The Brooklyn Nets have signed, drafted, and traded for players from virtually every state in the US, and much of the wider world beyond the United States. From Alabama to Wyoming, and from Australia to Ukraine, the Nets have a long and distinguished history of turning over every stone to find the talent needed to succeed in the NBA.

From their start in the American Basketball Association (ABA) as the New Jersey Americans and New York Nets to their jump to the NBA as the New Jersey Nets right through to today, the organization has cast their net for talent wide since the inception of the ball club.

For this installment of our series documenting the provenience of every Nets player to suit up for the franchise, let's take a look at every player from California who has played for Brooklyn.

Our focus in this article is Jason Collins. An alum of Stanford, he was picked up with the 18th overall selection of the 2001 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets.

The Northridge, California native played the first 7 seasons of his pro career with the (then) New Jersey (now, Brooklyn) Nets instead, his first stint with the team. Between them, he played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics, and Washington Wizards, signing with the Brooklyn Nets in 2014 for the final season of his career.

During his time suiting up for the Nets, Collins put up 4.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.
