On the heels of winning the 2026 Ballon d’Or, Harry Kane is reportedly close to signing a contract extension with Bayern Munich. While it has never really been in doubt that the England captain would agree to a longer stay with the German club, minor details in the negotiations have delayed finalization. However, the club’s front office has remained relaxed throughout the process.

The amicably calm nature of the contract talks has provided reassurance in the background while Bayern’s number 9 takes care of business on the pitch. Although he did not find the back of the net in the 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund over the weekend, he is off to a solid start this season, tallying 10 goals and 8 assists from 13 appearances across all competitions.

Ahead of the Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid, Kane provided an update on his contract situation, revealing that he feels a new deal is only “a matter of days” away.

“I’d say it’s a matter of days. There’s been a good conversation over this weekend, and today as well, so yeah, I know I keep saying we’re close, but we are extremely close now, details are just details in every contract. A lot of the bigger stuff has been ironed out, and we’re happy with, but in every contract there’s loads of little things that go into it, and small details that in the end the lawyers have to figure out. So yeah, all in all, I’d say it’s more days than weeks. The conversations have gone well again today, and hopefully we’ll be in a place to do something within the next few days,” Kane explained in the press conference ahead of the clash with Atletico (via @iMiaSanMia).

As things stand, Kane’s current contract with Bayern runs through June 2027, but the proposed extension is expected to keep him at the club through 2029 and earn him roughly 25 million euros per year—the highest yearly wage at the club. For Bayern, the new deal is worth its weight in gold and makes a massive statement to the rest of Europe, especially after Kane arrived from the Premier League, put up incredible numbers, and continued to perform at the highest level.
