Last week, it was reported that Bruce Prichard was set to retire from his role in WWE following WrestleMania 43 next year.
It was then reported that WWE was planning on promoting from within, with Shawn Michaels the name expected to take over from Prichard following WrestleMania.
With Shawn potentially set to have more of a voice in main roster creative soon, here are some changes he could bring to creative.
In recent years, NXT has seen a major shift from it’s Black and Gold days and through the NXT 2.0 era.
The current iteration of NXT sees a decent mix of independent talent coming through the WWE ID program and names signed through the WWE NIL program.
NXT stands out from Raw and SmackDown right now due to most of the wrestlers on the show having more distinct characters than those on the main roster, with it even being rumoured that Paul Levesque has not called up Tony D’Angelo due to not liking his original gimmick.
With Shawn having more of a voice on the main roster soon, we could see more characters come to Raw and SmackDown’s midcard.
2026 has been a very quiet year for the main roster women’s division, though the division remains the standout part of NXT right now.
It isn’t as though the NXT women’s division is more stacked with names than the main roster, but the show seems to have a lot more effort put into making the women’s stars feel just as important as the men.
There is a lot working against the women in WWE, but if Shawn Michaels has more of a voice on the main roster, hopefully it leads to them being treated the way they should be.
Every week on NXT, several segments take place backstage in the men’s and women’s locker rooms, where several names get spotlighted, if even briefly.
While it’s only a small thing, segments featuring the wrestlers in the locker room is an easy way to escalate conflicts between them, and is just a useful tool to make the roster all feel connected.
If Shawn has more of a say on the main roster soon, he could bring one of his trademark segments with him.
