Michigan high school football: Ranking top teams in each geographic region, Final
Brother Rice’s Maximus Giglio and Christian Marshall celebrate a big play during the Prep Bowl football game on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, at Ford Field.

This high school football season, The Detroit News ranked teams across the entire state of Michigan. The regions are assembled by county, breaking down the 83 in Michigan into four geographic regions: southeast, southwest, northeast and northwest.

These regions are not coequals, with both the southeast and southwest likely having an outsize share of teams that would fill out the top of a state-wide ranking.

These are the final rankings for this season with the state playoffs beginning Oct. 30-31.
