This was a must-win game for Sidmouth, and the three points eased them away from the relegation zone of the Premier Division of the Western League.
The Wellington club remains rooted at the foot of the table without a point all season, while Sidmouth now face a run of tricky away games in November.
Both sides looked enterprising in the opening stages, and it was after twelve minutes that the deadlock was finally broken.
Jack Drew Cull was pulled back as he cut through the defensive line, and with the official allowing advantage, Louis Spalding went on to finish.
Sidmouth have conceded a number of times from set pieces recently, and it was from a corner that Glen Wright equalised, heading in on the far post.
Wellington was forced to re-shuffle the pack a number of times because of injury, and they were punished again when Drew Cull scored his first Western League goal to put The Vikings 2-1 ahead.
A crucial save by Elliot Driver from Ben Evett preserved Sidmouth’s lead just past the hour before Nathan Cooper headed in a trademark Dan Western corner to stretch the lead to 3-1.
More breathing space soon arrived, Ryan White beating Luke Vernon to make the score more comfortable at 4-1, and it could have been far more.
“The pleasing factor in the game was the number of opportunities we created with some neat intricate football around the Wellington box,” said Sidmouth manager Billy Rouse.
The Sidmouth Man of the Match Award went to Jack Mills.
On Saturday (November 7), Sidmouth travel to St. Blazey.
Kick-off is at 3pm.
