Flyers Game 15: Lines, Notes, & How to Watch @ Capitals
Flyers Game 15: Lines, Notes, & How to Watch @ Capitals

The Philadelphia Flyers (3-7-4) are back on the road on Wednesday when they head down to our Nation’s Capital to take on the Washington Capitals (6-4-0) at Capital One Arena. Puck drop is at 7:30 PM ET.

The Flyers are coming off one of their more peculiar games. They were dominated in the first period, followed by their best hockey of the season during the second and third periods. The Flyers were able to complete the comeback, forcing overtime, but mistakes were costly, leading to their second consecutive loss.

Washington has won 3 of its last 4 games and will look to keep it rolling on Wednesday. The Capitals, also on a back-to-back, beat the Buffalo Sabres 4-3 in overtime. Both teams will be on tired legs coming into Wednesday’s action.

Puck drop is at 7:30 PM ET. Here is everything you need to know before the game.

Flyers Projected Lines & Pairs @ Capitals

Notes

If the Flyers come out for the start of the game like they did the last 40 minutes of Tuesday’s game, this team could be dangerous. The Flyers have put together some strong stretches all season, but that might have been their longest. “Full 60” is a phrase used by Rick Tocchet as well as many of the leaders on this team. If the Flyers can play a full 60 minutes of that level of play, look out.

At the same time, this will be the first regular-season look that the Flyers will get of the new and improved Capitals roster. They went out and brought in some talent like Alex Tuch, Jordan Kyrou, and Boone Jenner, among others. The Caps have a dangerous squad. This will be the first look they get of their Metropolitan Division rival’s new look.

Joseph Woll is likely to get the start, given that Dan Vladar played last night. Woll did not have his best stuff on Saturday against the Ducks, but he is the sort of player who knows he just had to flush it and move on. This is his chance to do so.

Head coach Rick Tocchet put the defensive pairings in a blender on Tuesday following the first period. It seemed to work, given that the next Blue Jackets’ goal was the overtime winner. It was the first time Oliver Bonk had struggled, really, since his season debut. Cam York and Jamie Drysdale seemed to have some issues finding their old connection. So, Drysdale moved up top with Travis Sanheim, Nick Seeler played with Cam York, and Bonk moved down to the 3rd pair with Hunter McDonald. The pairs seemed to work. Let’s see if that is what the Flyers roll with on Wednesday.
