Oxford City FC partners with Singapore FC on development

The agreement will connect the clubs through coaching, player development, education and international camps.

It will give young players based in Singapore opportunities to train, develop and be seen in England. The clubs will also share knowledge and best practice between their coaching teams.

Plans include coaching and leadership camps in Oxford, summer training programmes and student-athlete identification camps.

These will offer male and female players football training alongside a cultural experience in the city.

Education pathways will also be developed anchored in the city's world-renowned academic environment.

The clubs said the partnership would support players and coaches while creating links between England and Singapore.

Justin Merritt, chief executive officer of Oxford City Football Club, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Singapore Football Club as an international partner.

"This aligns with our strategic pillars of developing our community, a belief in developing people, and building lasting partnerships.

“Sharing our coaching knowledge and opening our doors to SFC's players and coaches is an exciting step for both clubs, and we cannot wait to welcome them to Oxford.”

He added: “We are looking forward to learning more about football in Singapore and supporting the growth of both organisations.”

Dom Lane, managing director of Singapore Football Club, said: “What drew us to Oxford City FC is that it is a true community club, with real roots in the people and place around it.

“This is an authentic partnership built on a shared commitment to pathways and development.

“Our members will benefit from quality coaching, real player pathways and the experience of training and learning in Oxford.”

A coaching and leadership camp is due to take place in Oxford in December. Singapore FC will then hold academy camps in Singapore.

A flagship summer camp is planned for 2027. It will combine international tournament football in Spain with a training and identification camp in Oxford.

Oxford City is preparing to host Leicester City in the Emirates FA Cup first round on Friday, November 6, 2026.

Leicester won the competition in 2021, and the tie is among the fixtures in the round.

Oxford City FC has a community focus and heritage dating back to 1882. Singapore Football Club is described as one of Singapore’s fastest-growing and most ambitious clubs.

Singapore FC operates several teams through its youth academy. The academy works with international and local schools and runs community programmes.

Its academy provides football for girls and boys aged six to 19, with a commitment to grassroots development.
