Ex-Motherwell boss takes extra steps to protect players from riots

The Danish coach is in charge of the Ligue 1 club in France and were held to a goalless draw against Troyes.

But Askou and his players were caught up in the riots that have spread across France with Toulouse one of the melting pots of the disruption.

Toulouse's game was postponed a day because of planned protests and Askou and the players who live in the centre of the city were shepherded away to another location.

Askou said: "I still don't fully understand some of the situations in France, especially the political ones.

"But I hope everyone here managed to have a peaceful and safe weekend.

"We discussed the situation and decided to take some steps to protect our players who live in the city centre.

"The weekend was a bit hectic and perhaps emotionally challenging for them. The Team Manager and his staff have taken measures to adapt their training."
