GOAT’s out the bag. Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show for the first time in his historic career on Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. But in the NFL‘s announcement on Monday (Oct. 26), commissioner Roger Goodell revealed Jay-Z headlining was going to happen sooner or later.

In the league’s press release, Goodell shared that when the NFL entered a partnership with Roc Nation to serve as the live music entertainment strategist in 2019, his one request was that Jay eventually take the Super Bowl stage.

“When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him,” Goodell said in a statement. “I couldn’t be more excited for fans around the world to experience the artistry, creativity and cultural impact he will bring to the Super Bowl stage.”

Jay has played an integral role in reshaping the Super Bowl Halftime Show lineup, including sets from Rihanna, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Usher, Bad Bunny, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg and more under his reign, which has netted Jay three Primetime Emmy Award wins for codirecting the halftime shows.

Hov and Roc Nation signed an extension with the NFL in 2024 to continue the partnership with the league. The NFL’s announcement was made during halftime of Monday Night ‘s matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys on Monday, which was soundtracked by Jay’s “Public Service Announcement (Interlude).”

Prior to that, there had been mounting speculation that Jay-Z would be the pick for the Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show, which was first reported by Puck on Oct. 20.

The Brooklyn rap deity has been back outside this year. He performed a star-studded Yankee Stadium trifecta in July, which was followed by shows in Paris, London and a pair of concerts in Los Angeles on Oct. 23 and Oct. 24.
