New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell struck a powerful six off Arshdeep Singh during the third T20I against India at the Sky Stadium in Wellington on October 27, 2026. The shot travelled dangerously close to a security guard near the boundary, creating a frightening moment during the match.

Daryl Mitchell connected with a short delivery in the sixth over of New Zealand's innings. The ball flew flat towards the boundary area, leaving the steward with little awareness of the danger as he looked towards the stands.

The incident took place on the first ball of the sixth over, when Arshdeep Singh bowled a short delivery to Mitchell. The New Zealand batter pulled it powerfully, sending the ball racing towards the boundary at considerable speed.

It was an alarming moment as the ball passed close to the steward's head. The security guard appeared unaware of the incoming shot, as his attention was directed towards the stands.

Daryl Mitchell himself seemed concerned as he watched the ball's trajectory, almost hiding his face while seeing how close it came to the steward. The replay made the incident appear even more frightening, highlighting just how narrowly the ball missed striking him.

At the time of writing the report, he was batting on 48 off 25 deliveries, with four fours and three sixes. He had provided New Zealand with an aggressive middle-order contribution as the hosts looked to build a strong total.

Mitchell Santner Confirms Three Major Changes to New Zealand Playing XI for Third T20I

New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner confirmed three changes to the side for the third T20I against India. Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson and Nathan Smith were unavailable, with the changes involving both rotation and minor injury concerns.

Santner said the pitch looked good, with some pace and bounce expected. He also noted that Wellington's conditions were different from the previous venues, requiring the players to adjust to the ground's dimensions.

“Looks like another good wicket. Looks like a little pace and bounce, so I think we will bowl as well. Yeah, looks really good,” Santner said.

The New Zealand captain also acknowledged that his team had been in strong positions in the first two matches but had allowed India back into the contests.

“We've been in very good positions in both games to potentially win them, and, you know, we've kind of let India back in, and they're too good a side to let back in,” he added.

Explaining the changes, Santner confirmed that Matt Fisher was returning, while Kyle Jamieson and Adam Milne were also coming into the bowling group.

“Yeah, we've got three changes. Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson and Nathan Smith are out, and we've got Fish (Fisher) coming back, which is nice. Adam Milne, KJ (Jamieson), it's just a bit of rotation with the bowlers with obviously what we've got coming up,” he said.
