Liverpool were denied a penalty. Then this referee footage emerged.

A controversial decision involving Alexander Isak was already dominating the debate. Now a half-time exchange between Madley and Gabriel has intensified Liverpool supporters' anger.

If you want to understand why trust in Premier League officiating is at an absolute historic floor, you don’t need to pore over 90 minutes of tactical analysis from Liverpool’s defeat to Arsenal. You only need to look at two distinct moments from Anfield: one on the pitch, and one inside the tunnel.

First came the non-call. Alexander Isak leapt for a ball in the penalty box, his shirt visibly yanked and stretched by Jurrien Timber.

Isak, refreshingly honest, refused to hit the deck. He stayed on his feet, tried to make a play on the ball, and was rewarded for his sportsmanship with absolute silence from referee Andy Madley and VAR official Stuart Attwell.

Then came the halftime tunnel footage.
