Celtic sent starkest of warnings from SPFL's most in-form striker

The American striker insists the Bairns must be disciplined when the Premiership leaders arrive at The Falkirk Stadium, but is backing his side to create chances of their own.

Murrell said: "It's going to be a really tough game against Celtic, but we have the advantage of being at home on our own turf with our fans behind us. They've been incredible all season and we'll need that support again at the weekend.

"We know how dangerous Celtic are going forward, but I do think there will be spaces for us to exploit and opportunities to score goals. At the same time, we need to be disciplined and secure defensively, and make sure we don't leave too many gaps for their dangerous players to hurt us."

Falkirk head into the clash in buoyant mood after three straight Premiership victories, with Murrell emerging as one of the stories of the season.

The American has become a fans' favourite while helping fill the void left by Barney Stewart, scoring four goals in his last four matches to fire the Bairns up the table.

And Murrell reckons both he and the team have turned a corner over the past month.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "It's been a really good month, a mature month. We've grown as a team and we've grown as a group. Now we're looking to build on that against Celtic.

"You mentioned Falkirk getting into good positions in games and then losing late goals. I think we've rewritten the script. Earlier in the season we were conceding late goals, and we probably weren't as clinical with our chances as we could have been during my first month here.

"I think we've turned that around this month. We've been really clinical, we've taken our chances and we've seen games out really well. The substitutes were incredible in the last game. In the final few minutes, we managed the game really well from Aberdeen corners and throw-ins and saw it out professionally."

Murrell also revealed the backing of manager and team-mates helped him bounce back after missed opportunities earlier in the campaign.

He said: "I'm really confident right now. If I get chances, I feel confident I'm going to score. A lot of that comes down to the team-mates around me. After the Rangers game, when I missed a couple of chances, the gaffer and the players got behind me, kept building my confidence and pushed me forward."

The striker has also developed a strong bond with the Falkirk support and was delighted to spot one of his fan groups during last week's trip to Aberdeen.

He said: "The support has been incredible. At Aberdeen, CJ and I really enjoyed seeing the fans, including the banner from the supporters in the USA. He spotted the flag and we went over to get a picture with them. It was really cool to see.

"The fans have been brilliant over the past month. Obviously it helps when you're winning games, but even when we weren't winning and were conceding late goals, they stuck behind us all the way. That really helped us put together a great month."
