Jamie Robson on Oldham Athletic's response on and off pitch

Being reduced to 10 men after just 14 minutes was bad enough, but to be two-men down by the half-hour was new territory for the fullback.

"That was a first for me," said the Scot.

"I've never been involved in a game like that. It was a tough one to take.

"Two reds card, it's tough. There are a lot of positives to take from the game but we've been robbed of three points essentially and that's what matters in this game, so we're all devastated that that's happened.

"But on the flip side we did show character, resilience, as a squad, as a football club, and I think that was fantastic. To see the fans, players, coaches, everyone - a real togetherness, I think that's what Oldham's about. And I think with that we'll be all right.

"Out there I felt we were the better team and we created a lot of good chances - could have scored, should have scored, unlucky not to. Overall the feeling out there was that we were on the front foot, we were the ones pushing and driving."

And Robson put a lot of that down to the reaction of the supporters.

"The fans were brilliant, from start to finish. They drove us on in the moments we needed," he said.

"I think there were moments on the pitch where the players drove the fans as well.

"We were really united out there and it was fantastic.

"The fans are always like that. Since the moment I came here they've been brilliant.

"It's a really good factor to have a fanbase like that backing us home and away every single week."
