Dolphins have reportedly shut down trade calls on two veterans

With one of the youngest and thinnest rosters in the NFL, the Miami Dolphins haven't had the most success early in their 2026 campaign, going 1-5 through their first six games under new head coach Jeff Hafey.

With that in mind, the Dolphins should be looking to move on from some veterans or players on one-year deals to bring in extra draft capital for 2027 as they continue their rebuild.

However, according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Dolphins are shutting down trade calls for at least two veterans this year.

"The Dolphins aren’t hanging up on anyone, but they value their veteran leaders and see them as key to giving their hyper-young roster the right environment to grow," Breer wrote in an article posted Friday. "Miami has gotten interest in DT Zach Sieler and C Aaron Brewer, but quickly rebuffed that, and sees those two and Jordyn Brooks as important influences on their raft of rookies."

Sieler, 31, is under contract through 2029 and will see his cap number balloon from $11 million this year to $20.89 million next year. Through six games this year, Sieler has recorded 17 tackles, five quarterback hits and two sacks. With a group of young defensive linemen around him, he's been a great mentor for the room.

Brewer, 29, is also under contract through 2029 after inking a three-year, $52.5 million deal this offseason. His cap number will more than triple in 2027, as it goes from $5.64 million this year to $18.56 million next year. Pro Football Focus has graded him as the sixth-best center in the league, and he's been a stabilzing presence for an offensive line that includes three starters with less than three full seasons in the NFL.

Breer did go on to mention that Miami could trade right tackle Austin Jackson, who is in the final year of his current contract. However, the Dolphins don't have much depth at the position, unless they plan on kicking Kadyn Proctor out to tackle.
