Here are the player ratings of The Herald's Argyle reporter Chris Errington from the 0-0 League One draw against Reading at Home Park. You can give your marks too using our special widget further down this story.
James Storer 6 - The 22-year-old made his league debut for Argyle at short notice of only around two-and-a-half hours before kick-off because Murphy Cooper was dealing with what Tom Cleverley said was a 'personal family issue'. There were a couple of anxious moments for Storer but given the circumstances he put in a solid display, capped by a clean sheet.
Julio Pleguezuelo 7 - Had been in the middle of Argyle's defensive trio in the 3-2 win at Cambridge United but swapped positions with Alex Mitchell against Reading and played on the right side, where he put his ability to step in front of opposition players and cut out attacks to good use.
Alex Mitchell 8 STAR MAN - It felt like, understandably, Reading wanted to test out James Storer aerially with crosses into the Argyle penalty area but Mitchell helped the goalkeeper out massively in this respect, and was also good at covering runs behind Julio Pleguezuelo and Wes Harding to prevent the Royals' getting in on goal.
Wes Harding 6 - Argyle generally gave good protection to James Storer, with Harding playing his part in that. Reading had scored 25 goals in their previous 12 league games this season but the Pilgrims' league debutant only had four saves to make during the match.
Joe Edwards 6 - Returned to the team and captained Argyle playing at right wing-back, with Matty Sorinola ruled out by a knee issue, which is not considered serious. Edwards was kept busy defensively, especially in the second half, because of the speed which Reading broke forward at.
Tyreeq Bakinson 6 - Was at the centre of a controversial moment in the second half when the ball appeared to strike the Argyle midfielder on the arm but referee Stephen Martin took no action, much to the obvious annoyance of the Reading players.
Harvey White 7 - Could not be faulted for being willing to take on shots from distance. He had three attempts in the first half, forcing two saves out of Joel Pereira and the other being superbly blocked. White also tried a long-range drive in the second period which Pereira had to touch away for a corner. Had a couple of opportunities to hit free-kicks into the Reading box at the end of the match but they did not lead to a chance for a last-gasp goal.
Jack MacKenzie 7 - This was an encouraging performance from MacKenzie, who has started the last two games at left wing-back after his recent well-documented injury issues and he has looked very capable of playing there. He was good defensively against Reading but also got forward well and put some threatening crosses into the Royals' box.
Xavier Amaechi 7 - Was Argyle's best attacking threat throughout, particularly in the first half, when he looked confident and sharp on the ball and provided some good deliveries for his team-mates which they could not capitalise on. After being used as a substitute so often at the start of the season he is now looking like he can become a regular in the team.
Bim Pepple 6 - Had a tough, physical battle against Reading's defenders, esepcially Paudie O'Connor, who came off worse in one challenge with the powerful Argyle forward, although Pepple was on the receiving end of plenty of attention from the Royals too during the game.
Will Evans 6 - As always, the effort was there from Evans as he tried to link up play on the left of Argyle's attacking trio, but there was not enough attacking output from him, apart from one header in the first half after a cross from Xavier Amaechi when the ball flashed well wide of the goal.
SUBSTITUTES
Malachi Boateng - Played for the first time since suffering a knee ligtament injury in Argyle's 1-1 League One draw at Wycombe Wanderers on August 22. Was an 80th minute substitute for Tyreeq Bakinson and his short run-out in central midfield should have done him a lot of good as it got him back into the cut and thrust of League One football after more than two months away.
Oli Irow - Was sent on for Xavier Amaechi in the 80th minute but the Tottenham Hotspur loanee did not get into the game much in the short time he was on the pitch.
Mathias Ross - Had to stand on the touchline and wait to be allowed on as a late replacement for Julio Pleguezuelo because referee Stphen Martin deemed that Argyle had taken too long - beyond the 10-second limit - to make the switch.
Substitutes (not used): Ronan Curtis, Alex Hartridge, Bradley Ibrahim, Jared Rendle.
