Nijisanji VTuber under fire after admitting to “careless” reports against Splatoon teammates

Nijisanji VTuber Ars Almal has apologized after admitting that she made careless reports against players she was matched with during past Splatoon 3 streams.

Ars Almal is a Japanese VTuber affiliated with Nijisanji. She came under fire after clips from a September 11 stream showed her criticizing a teammate following a Bankara Match loss.

The controversy began when an X user accused Almal of verbally attacking a teammate for being bad and making what they described as a false report.

A second post from Runatix_sino shared footage from another part of the stream alongside the comment, “This is seriously too awful.”

In the clip, Almal accused a teammate of repeatedly rushing into unpainted enemy ink and being defeated. She then said she thought something was wrong and would report the player. When viewers pointed out that the player’s username indicated they were practicing, Almal responded by asking whether that was supposed to be an excuse.

The backlash grew further after Almal said an October 25 stream archive had “disappeared into darkness because I sneezed.” Some viewers believed the archive had been hidden because of the criticism, although previous reports noted that Almal had made streams private before.

Ars Almal apologizes for past reports

On October 27, Almal posted an apology on X with a longer statement attached.

“I also made reports too casually about the gameplay of people I was matched with during past streams,” Almal wrote.

She apologized to the players involved, viewers who watched her streams, and fans who had supported her. She also said she deeply regretted disappointing her audience and making people uncomfortable.

Criticism continued after the apology. One X user said that reporting someone while dismissing their “practicing” username as an excuse had gone too far, adding that Turf War and Bankara Match are different environments for learning the game.
