When we see a struggling franchise in any sport, we can almost always expect a fire sale to follow shortly after a general manager is fired. This could ring true for the Indianapolis Colts, as they fired Chris Ballard this week. With the Colts at 2-4, strapped for NFL Draft picks, and with a few prized players worth trading, could the Minnesota Vikings be involved in a move?
While appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport hinted that the relationship between Ed Dodds, the interim GM in Indy, and Vikings GM Nolan Teasley could lead to a Jonathan Taylor trade:
“Ed Dodds (Colts interim GM) does have ties to Seattle… Nolan Teasley who’s in Minnesota, wonder if they can use one as well.”
If the price is right, the Vikings should be all-in on acquiring the former first-team All-Pro running back. Taylor could be the missing piece to this offense, which has looked better on the ground this season, but someone of Taylor's caliber could take this team over the top. If he can be had for a second-round pick, Minnesota would be wise to pull the trigger.
