‘Just Go Ahead and Trade Him,’ ‘He Knows That It’s Over’ — NFL Fans Take Notice As Jonathan Taylor Gets Brutally Honest After Colts’ Blowout Loss

Things have gone from bad to worse for the Indianapolis Colts. Sunday’s 42-7 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars dropped them to 2-6 and extended their losing streak to four games. With the trade deadline approaching, the focus is shifting to how Indianapolis plans to approach the rest of the season and beyond.

With reports now indicating the Colts are open to moving Jonathan Taylor as well, the running back’s postgame comments have drawn fresh attention amid growing uncertainty over his future.

The Colts have already parted ways with veteran stars Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner in exchange for draft picks. With reports now indicating the Colts are open to moving Jonathan Taylor as well, the running back’s own comments have put him in the middle of that conversation.

Jonathan Taylor’s Postgame Comments Add to Colts Trade Speculation

Taylor had a difficult afternoon against Jacksonville, finishing with just 23 rushing yards on eight carries and no touchdowns. He also lost a costly fumble after stumbling before pitching the ball to wide receiver Josh Downs on a gadget play, making an already frustrating day even worse.

Still, Taylor has been one of the Colts’ most productive players this season. He currently ranks No. 10 in PFN’s RB Impact Score with a grade of 80.8.

Daniel Jones had his own struggles, completing 19 of 28 passes for 144 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. With the Colts trailing by 35 points, Anthony Richardson entered early in the fourth quarter for his first regular-season action of the 2026 season.

Head coach Shane Steichen clarified that the move was prompted by the score, rather than a change in the team’s starting quarterback.

However, it was Taylor’s postgame remarks that really got people talking.

“It’s not gonna get any easier; it’s actually gonna get even harder, and teams are gonna look at us even more, foaming at the mouth… Your back’s against the wall. What are you gonna do? You’re going to have to fight your way out of a corner… This is not getting anywhere near any easier; you gotta accept that, and when you accept that, that’s just the first step,” Taylor said.

Taylor was speaking about the difficult situation facing the Colts as a team, rather than directly addressing his own future. His comments were not a trade request.

However, with Indianapolis already open to trade discussions, some fans and analysts wonder whether Taylor sees a future for himself there. WFAN sports-talk host Lori Rubinson even suggested that Taylor could be trying to send a message to the organization without directly asking for a trade.

“This is another way for a player to ask for a trade without having to ask for a trade. Jonathan Taylor saying this about his current team is the ticket out of town. If you’re the owner, don’t you trade him?” Rubinson wrote.

Fans also joined the discussion, with several interpreting Taylor’s comments as a sign that he could be ready for a fresh start. “Just go ahead and trade him,” one fan wrote.

Another pointed to Taylor’s expression during the media availability, saying, “You can tell by his eyes… He knows that it’s over.”

One commenter simply wrote, “Giant,” seemingly suggesting New York as a potential destination.

Another fan went even further, predicting a quick move involving the veteran running back. “24hrs hours later, he will be traded,” the commenter wrote.

The Colts would likely demand a significant return for Taylor. A useful recent benchmark for a star running back trade is Christian McCaffrey’s 2022 move to San Francisco, which brought Carolina second-, third-, fourth-, and fifth-round picks.

That deal included multiple high-round picks, headlined by a second-rounder, along with additional compensation.

Besides the Giants, whom one fan suggested, the Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks have also been linked to the three-time Pro Bowler.

At 2-6, the Colts are running out of time to turn their season around. They are set to host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, two days before the Nov. 10 trade deadline, leaving the front office with some major decisions to make.
