Chargers' Dalvin Tomlinson predicted to reunite with former team

The Chargers have 11 games remaining, and many are already writing them off for this season.

Part of that is their 0-6 start, with little to no sign of turning things around. The Bolts are at the bottom of the barrel and will likely have little to play for the rest of the way, aside from positioning themselves for the No. 1 overall pick.

If that's the case, the Chargers could look to clean house. Several Los Angeles players have been linked to potential trades, including Donte Jackson, Quentin Johnston, and Derwin James, to name a few.

However, ESPN NFL insider Bill Barnelwell named Dalvin Tomlinson as a trade candidate. In his most recent column, Barnwell predicted the Chargers would trade Tomlinson to one of these former teams, the New York Giants.

"Another veteran reserve for the Chargers who could be on the move between now and the deadline, Tomlinson would be coming full circle after starting his career in New York. The well-traveled defensive tackle isn't the interior disrupter we saw earlier in his career, but Tomlinson is also only two years removed from an 18-knockdown season with the Browns in 2024. He's a pending free agent with Los Angeles and due $2.1 million over the rest of 2026.”

In return, the Chargers would receive a 2028 sixth-round pick.

Tomlinson joined the Chargers this past offseason, signing a one-year, $7.5 million deal. He played with the Cardinals last season and is in his 10th season in the NFL.

The Giants drafted the 32-year-old with the 55th overall pick in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Tomlinson spent the first four seasons of his career in New York.

Since then, Tomlinson has played for three other organizations outside of the Giants and Chargers.

In four games this season, Tomlinson has recorded eight tackles, 0.5 sacks, and one quarterback hit. He's currently in a rotational role.

If things keep spiraling for the Chargers, they may find a new home for the veteran defensive tackle.
