NFL insider reveals Chargers' surprising trade deadline stance

The Chargers are the only winless team left in the NFL.

The Bolts have had a nightmare season, sitting at 0-6 and being one of the worst offenses in the league. Very little, at that, has gone right. Because of that, many believe they will trade some of their top and key players.

With the trade deadline approaching, the Bolts have a golden opportunity to trade some of their top players and get some sort of return on investment. However, the Chargers believe that a turnaround is in sight, which means they will stand pat come the No.v 10 trade deadline.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero said the Chargers remain reluctant to trade any of their players and recently published a mailbag article answering a question about a theoretical Ladd McConkey trade. In it, Pelissero mentioned that a McConkey trade, or any move, is unlikely right now.

"Joe, the Chargers haven't shown much interest in trading anyone to this point. At 0-6 coming out of the bye, they still believe they have a chance to turn things around and play meaningful football late in the season," Pelissero wrote. "But even if they do go into sell mode, I'd be shocked if Ladd McConkey is on the move. He's still only 24 years old, in the third year of his rookie contract, and arguably the most important piece of the Chargers offense besides quarterback Justin Herbert."

As things stand, the Chargers are unlikely to make a trade. As for McConkey's future with the team, that is not in doubt.

McConkey will finish the season in Los Angeles, barring anything catastrophic.

The 24-year-old has been the Chargers' best pass catcher by far. The overall numbers aren't impressive, but the bar is set low in that room.

In five games, McConkey has 13 catches for 200 yards, one touchdown and averages 15.4 yards per reception.

If the Bolts want any chance of turning their season around, it must start this Sunday against the Rams. If they fall short once again, serious conversations will need to be had about the future of some of their key players.
