Big game players, big game performances: Player ratings for Milan-Inter from Italian papers

Last night’s win against Inter was proof of the quality within the AC Milan squad, so now it’s a case of continuing on the path upwards.

For Milan, a win in the derby wasn’t essential. Yes, it would always be a big help, but avoiding defeat was the priority, given a 10-point gap would’ve opened to the title leaders. Yet, the Rossoneri were brave and fought for three points, even if most would’ve taken one.

A defining performance of the Ruben Amorim era so far, everyone played their role stupendously – and that includes the Portuguese, who tactically outclassed his counterpart. As a result, the scores from us were rather high in our post-match ratings.

The ratings for Milan-Inter

Looking at the ratings from elsewhere, Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) gave the performance an eight, also giving Amorim that score, too.

In terms of the players’ performances, Goncalo Ramos was the lowest, with a still passable score of a 6. However, Ardon Jashari and Davide Bartesaghi were also given these scores, understandable after coming off the bench.

With 6.5s, Koni De Winter, Yunus Musah and Alphadjo Cisse were all very solid, with the latter almost grabbing a fourth in the game. Mario Gila, Strahinja Pavlovic and Sankhoun Diawara were given 7s, as did Luka Modric and the first goalscorer Christian Pulisic.

The Diavolo’s French duo – Mike Maignan and Adrien Rabiot – were awarded a score of 7.5, whilst Diego Moreira was given an eight for his goal and two assists.

Moving to Corriere dello Sport, Amorim was given an eight again. Ramos scored the lowest again, at a six, whilst Musah, Diawara, Pavlovic and De Winter were given 6.5. Gila, Modric, Pulisic and Rabiot were given 7s. Then, Maignan was given a 7.5, Moreira, again, was given an 8/10.

Finally, Tuttosport’s ratings were largely the same. Ramos was given a downgrade to a 5/10, whilst Moreira was given another eight. The French goalkeeper kept his second-best position with a 7.5 – alongside Rabiot – thanks to his big saves, whilst Diawara was also given a bump up to a 7, thanks to an impressive derby debut.

Elsewhere, Gila, De Winter, Pavlovic, Musah and Pulisic were given 6.5s, Modric played a 7/10 game and Amorim was given a 7.5.

A strong derby, definitely.
