The decision comes as the Blues face the risk of losing midfielders Miguel Azeez and Harvey Bunker to suspension.
United are appealing the latter duo’s red cards against Harrogate Town, the News & Star has revealed.
But the Cumbrians have also acted to cover the risk of losing the pair by bringing Lowes back into the first-team squad ahead of Saturday’s trip to Altrincham.
The 18-year-old has been with Darlington since early September and has been a regular part of their side in National League North.
He had been due to remain with the Quakers until January but the academy product can now stake his claim for a role with Rob Elliot’s side in the National League.

Lowes was in action for Darlington on Tuesday when the first-year pro played 71 minutes of their 1-0 defeat at Morecambe.
The young Cumbrian made his United league debut earlier this season when he came off the bench in August's 1-1 draw at Yeovil Town, prior to his loan move to the north east.
Lowes' fellow United prospect, defender Hayden Atkinson, remains on loan with Darlington, who face Spalding United tomorrow.
Commenting on Lowes' departure, Darlington said: "Midfielder Jonah Lowes has been recalled by his parent club, Carlisle United, who are entitled to do so under the terms of his loan agreement.
"Following two red cards for Carlisle in midweek, Jonah is required by his parent club.
"Jonah made eight appearances for the Quakers during his loan spell, and we would like to thank him for his efforts while at the club.
"We would also like to thank Carlisle United for their assistance in arranging the loan and wish Jonah all the very best for the future."
