Philadelphia Eagles sign ex-New York Giants OL Evan Neal

Former New York Giants offensive lineman Evan Neal has landed with the Philadelphia Eagles, who signed the 2022 first-round pick to their practice squad on Thursday.

The Alabama product was taken seventh overall by the Giants in 2022 and went on to appear in 29 games with 27 starts, all of them at right tackle. Injuries and recurring struggles in pass protection limited his production over those seasons.

New York moved Neal inside to guard ahead of 2025, but he never took an offensive snap and spent time on injured reserve (IR).

Head coach John Harbaugh gave Neal a clean slate this offseason on a one-year deal, only for the team to release him during final roster cuts in August. After a brief stop on the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad, Neal worked out for the Eagles on Wednesday, practiced with the team Thursday, and was officially added as a guard.

The move provides Philadelphia additional depth amid ongoing offensive-line concerns.

From the Giants’ perspective, Neal’s arrival in Philadelphia closes another chapter on a high draft investment that never developed into the long-term starter the franchise once expected. New York has continued to reshape its offensive line without him as he searches for a foothold elsewhere.
