The schoolkids were competing against martial artists from across Europe in forms, weapons and sparring events, and they did their Moray club proud.

Ella was one of the standout performers, winning gold in sparring before going on to claim the prestigious title of Female Grand Champion in Sparring.

She also secured silver medals in Bo Staff and Team Forms, as well as bronze in Knife.

Jack also enjoyed a successful championship, taking silver in Forms and bronze medals in both Open Weapons and Sparring.

The results are a reward for the pair’s hard work and commitment to training at Evolution Martial Arts, where they have been preparing for competition alongside their fellow club members.

Instructor Michelle Raisborough said she was immensely proud of both students and their achievements on the international stage.

“Ella and Jack have worked incredibly hard to get to this level. Seeing them represent Scotland in a European championship is a proud moment for our club. Ella winning Female Grand Champion Sparring is an absolutely fantastic achievement, and Jack should be equally proud of the performances he delivered throughout the competition.”

The success provides a further boost for the Lossiemouth club, demonstrating the standard of martial arts being achieved by its students and the opportunities available to those willing to put in the work.

For Ella, the Female Grand Champion title is a particular highlight of an already impressive medal tally. However, both students have returned home with plenty to celebrate after helping Team Scotland make its mark at the European Championships.
