NRL club supremo confirms likely Super League switch for Castleford Tigers-linked forward

Canterbury Bulldogs’ general manager Gus Gould has confirmed that Super League-linked forward Jack Todd looks set for a move to England.

Todd, 24, can play prop or at loose forward and has recently been linked with a move to Castleford Tigers with the forward now off-contract.

He had signed a two-year deal back in February 2025 but after the November 1st deadline ticked over, he is now officially off-contract and therefore free to negotiate with rival clubs and it seems he’ll be heading to Super League.

Previously reported by Love Rugby League that Castleford Tigers were ‘interested’ in a move providing ‘several hurdles’ were navigated, Canterbury’s general manager Gould has confirmed that Todd does look set for a switch to Super League.

Whilst not naming Castleford or even Super League, Gould responded to a question on X, formerly Twitter, to confirm that he expects Todd to make a move to England.

“Looks like Jack is heading to the UK for a year,” Gould said.

“That could actually be very good for him at this stage… Regular football, see a bit of the world… Hopefully he has more luck with injury… Love to get him back in a year or two..”

Castleford Tigers’ hurdles to sign Jack Todd to Super League

The injury luck that Gould references saw Todd play just 26 games across the past two seasons and only four for the Bulldogs’ NRL side, none of which came in 2026. Instead, he played 12 times for the club’s New South Wales Cup side and is currently out injured having fractured his arm.

Still only 24, Todd has played just four NRL games but he’s played 40 times in the NSW Cup which has proven a good hunting ground for some Super League clubs when recruiting, in particular Castleford’s rivals Wakefield Trinity who have signed the likes of Caius Faatili, Caleb Hamlin-Uele and Ky Rodwell among others from the NRL reserve grade competitions.

Another issue that could stop Castleford being the side who sign Todd would be the club’s overseas quota situation, with the Tigers currently having 11 overseas players signed to their books – one more than is permitted.

Of those 11 players, four have signed for 2027 whilst Krystian Mapapalangi signed a new deal earlier this year. Overseas players currently contracted at Castleford are; Brock Greacen, Renouf Atoni, Semi Valemei, and Tom Weaver (all 2027), Blake Taaffe, Damien Cook, Mason Lino, Mikaele Ravalawa, and Tyrell Sloan (2028), as well as Krystian Mapalangi and Mat Feagai (both 2029).
