Brian Windhorst continues to play Riddler with latest comments on Thunder moves

No one in the reporting world can tease sports moves the way ESPN senior insider Brian Windhorst does. After two almost certain season-ending injuries to Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace, the Oklahoma City Thunder will likely make a move or two, and Windhorst's comments all but confirm it. However, they also added the ultimate tease.

Windhorst offered insight into the Thunder's outlook after the injuries to Williams and Wallace, admitting that while he's not trying to be cryptic, he's being just that. During a recent conversation on The Hoop Collective, Windhorst hinted that he wouldn't be surprised if the Thunder acquire a player they've "already had."

"And this is one thing that I've talked to executives about, and I don't mean to be cryptic, but I'm being cryptic," Windhorst said. "If you're going to, if they're going to acquire a player, it would not be a surprise if they acquire a player they've already had."

Obviously, that should raise a few eyebrows, for good reason. The Thunder traded away several notable names, including Luguentz Dort, Aaron Wiggins and Isaiah Joe. However, Oklahoma City potentially kicking the tires on bringing back a familiar face doesn't necessarily mean it'll be one of those names.

Another name that comes to mind is Russell Westbrook, one of the most beloved players in Thunder history, who opted to retire this offseason. Obviously, it's a complete unknown whether that is even a name in the mix for the Thunder (or anyone Windy could be referencing), but it could make for quite a storyline.

As for Windhorst, the information will remain anyone's guess, and his cryptic approach isn't new territory for NBA fans. From the infamous J.R. Smith soup-throwing incident to Windy's viral "Why is that" meme while discussing the Utah Jazz on ESPN's First Take, the insider has delivered plenty of unique teases.

Although it remains unclear what the Thunder will do after the injuries to Williams and Wallace, Windhorst appears to have at least some intel on the topic. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem we'll get much more than a possible reunion with a former player at this point.
