Retour
The South Korean winger is back with the first-team group after recovering from the hamstring problem that has kept him on the sidelines.
His return gives Martin O’Neill another attacking option as the club look to get their first points on the board in this season’s Europa League.
Yang was managing the injury while on international duty as South Korea went on to claim the Asian Games title. The 24-year-old was selected as an overage player for the tournament but was forced to miss the latter stages.
O’Neill had indicated last week that Yang was closing in on a return. He said: “He starts back with us on Monday; we’ll see how he is before the beginning of the international break.”
The Celtic boss must now decide whether the winger is ready to be thrown straight back into action against Besiktas or eased back into the fold.
Yang had been enjoying an impressive run before suffering the setback, and his return could provide a welcome lift for O’Neill.
Celtic have used a number of different options in the wide areas, with Haissem Hassan and Camilo Duran featuring on the right and Callum Osmand and Jota among those utilised from the opposite flank.
Yang’s last appearance for Celtic came in the 2-1 Premiership victory over St Mirren, when he found the net.
He could also come up against a familiar face on Thursday, with former Celtic striker and South Korea team-mate Oh Hyeon-gyu now part of the Besiktas squad.
