RGC family comes together to remember Jack Davies

The RGC rugby community is continuing to come to terms with the death of young player Jack Davies, as the club’s General Manager Alun Pritchard has thanked supporters for the compassion and kindness they have shown to Jack’s family, teammates and friends during an incredibly difficult time.

In an open letter to supporters, Mr Pritchard said the past few days had been particularly difficult for the squad, with many of its younger players facing the loss of a teammate and friend for the first time.

He thanked people for their support for the team, Jack’s family and Clwb Rygbi Caernarfon, adding that there was no right or wrong way for individuals to process what had happened.

Mr Pritchard said the club would stand together and, in time, find its own way forward while remembering and honouring Jack.

He also paid tribute to Jack’s determination to return to rugby after a series of injuries had kept him out of the game for more than 18 months.

“Among Jack’s many qualities were his resilience and inner strength,” he wrote.

“Despite facing numerous injuries that had kept him out of the game for more than 18 months, he never gave up. He was determined to play rugby and, more importantly, he was determined to represent RGC. That says everything about the person he was.”

Mr Pritchard said the same resilience and strength would now be needed by those who knew Jack, as they support one another and carry his memory forward.

He said many people had asked how they could help, and encouraged supporters to continue backing the players, staff and the wider club community.

RGC are due to face Pontypool at Stadiwm Eirias on October 31, with the match set to be played as a tribute to Jack.

Mr Pritchard said the occasion would be about much more than rugby.

“For once, it is not about the result,” he wrote. “It is about coming together as the RGC Family, standing shoulder to shoulder and remembering one of our own.”

The club will share further details about the match in the coming days.

Concluding his letter, Mr Pritchard thanked supporters for showing the compassion, unity and understanding that he said made RGC much more than a rugby team.

He said he looked forward to seeing supporters at Stadiwm Eirias as the club comes together to remember Jack.
