Steelers linked to exciting trade for first-round WR

Trade rumors are flying left and right, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have just been linked to an exciting trade for a former first-round wide receiver who can absolutely change the game thanks to his lightning-fast speed.

While discussing availability rumors surrounding Jacksonville Jaguars Pro Bowl wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler linked the Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs as trade partners to keep an eye on.

"Brian Thomas Jr., immensely talented, but I've talked to several teams who believe that he could be dealt over the next few weeks," Fowler said. "Jacksonville has relented in the past, they kept him cause he's such a big talent. They hoped his deep threat would balance things out for their other receivers. Last two weeks, no catches, had just 15 snaps and was essentially benched in the London game against Houston. Something has to give. There's going to be some interested parties. Kansas City has looking around about potentially adding a receiver. Pittsburgh to some extent. There will be some suitors for some of these top guys."

Thomas, who was drafted by the Jaguars with the 23rd overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, found tremendous success as a rookie, recording 87 catches for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2024. Unfortunately, his production fell apart in 2025 and to start 2026, accumulating just 812 receiving yards and three touchdowns in the past 20 games.

Taking a backseat role to Jaguars wide receivers Parker Washington and Jakobi Meyers, Thomas has played less than 60% of snaps in five out of six games this season, including seeing the field on just 21% of snaps in Week 6 and not having caught a pass in his past two games.

With a trade seemingly the most likely outcome and Pittsburgh named as a top landing spot, we at Steelers Wire will monitor this situation with Thomas very carefully over the next several weeks.
