Arsenal will face enormous competition for the signing of Club Brugge sensation Nicolo Tresoldi, but there is a growing sense that the in-form striker's destination will be England.

The Cagliari-born attacker is in the form of his life, and once again confirmed that he is simply irresistible right now with yet another Champions League goal on Wednesday. Tresoldi opened the scoring for Club Brugge as they won 2-1 away at PSV.

It was already his 14th goal of the season in 16 matches; five of his goals have come in four Champions League outings. Understandably, everybody wants a piece of Tresoldi right now.

The 22-year-old is one of the hottest commodities in European football right now and is being scouted by virtually every major club. At least 10 different teams have been linked with him in recent weeks.

Among the sides most keenly following his development are Arsenal, who were already tracking him last season. In the summer, they signed his partner in crime, Christos Tzolis, from Brugge. Could a reunion be on the cards in North London?

Tresoldi set for major transfer

Tresoldi is showing that he has a good head on his shoulders. The rampant speculation over his future - both domestically and internationally - is not getting him. He is in no rush to make a decision on his future club and national team.

The 22-year-old is eligible to play for Argentina, Italy and Germany, with the latter two desperate to secure him. At present, Tresoldi represents Germany's U21s, and he was not called up to Jurgen Klopp's senior squad for the upcoming break.

There is a good reason for his omission. Tresoldi has made no secret of his desire to play in next year's U21 European Championship despite the fact that he could already be playing in the first teams of two of Europe's most prestigious national teams.

He will only make a final decision on his international future after that tournament. It illustrates that he isn't letting the hype affect him; he has a clear plan for his career, and he is sticking to it.

It's the same when it comes to choosing his next club. Tresoldi knows that Brugge won't sell him in January, so there is no point in wasting any energy by thinking about transfers right now.

There is no doubt that Brugge will allow him to take the next step in the summer - they are a selling club. Until then, he can fully focus on his football, and it's clearly working right now. When he is eventually sold, he is almost guaranteed to become the club's new record departure.

Brugge want more than the €40 million they secured for Tzolis this summer, and reports increasingly suggest that Tresoldi will at least cost €50m next year. The more he scores, the more expensive he will become.

His Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has exploded recently. Following FootballTransfers' November update, Tresoldi's ETV has almost doubled, jumping from €20.7m to €41.1m. So, where could he end up next year?

Nobody knows at this stage; that's the honest answer. He is a boyhood AC Milan fan, and the San Siro side are desperate to sign him, but Tuttomercatoweb acknowledges that this is wishful thinking.

The competition for his signature is ultimately too great. Brugge will sell to the highest bidder, and the Rossoneri can't match what clubs like Arsenal or Chelsea can offer. Because of the Premier League's financial strength, a move to England is the most likely scenario.

Brugge expect an "international auction" for the 22-year-old next summer. They are braced for multiple big-money offers. Arsenal, due to the uncertainty around Viktor Gyokeres, will surely be in the mix to sign him.

It's too early to make predictions, but the reigning Premier League champions must be among the favourites to sign Tresoldi.
