AUBURN, Ala. – LSU football will officially be without a reserve defensive lineman for its Southeastern Conference showdown with Auburn.
Freshman defensive tackle Richard Anderson is listed as out for No. 17 LSU (5-2, 2-2 SEC), ticking up the number of players not playing to five. Star linebacker Whit Weeks, standout safety Dashawn Spears, wide receiver Phillip Wright III and reserve linebacker and special teamer Charles Ross II will miss the matchup against Auburn (4-2, 2-2) inside Jordan-Hare Stadium Saturday, Oct. 24 (11 a.m. CT, ABC).
Anderson was initially listed as doubtful when the first injury report was released Wednesday night and was then downgraded to out.
The 6-3, 330-pound first-year player was prized five-star recruit for Lane Kiffin's first recruiting class at LSU over the offseason. He's appeared in every game so far this season and has recorded three tackles.
Anderson's absence could be noteworthy as LSU already had a thin rotation up front along the defensive line.
Weeks, Spears, Wright and Ross being out for the Auburn game comes as no surprise. Weeks suffered a fractured fibula against Texas A&M a few weeks ago but he has not been ruled out for the season.
Spears (knee), Wright (knee) and Ross (knee) have all been ruled out for the rest of the season.
