Fleetwood to face more Premier League opposition as Man City draw Bradford in EFL Cup

Manchester City will face Bradford City in the EFL Cup quarter-finals, while Fleetwood Town's reward for stunning Arsenal is another home game against top-flight opponents.

Man City edged out Brighton 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out in the fourth round on Wednesday, having come from behind on two occasions to draw 2-2 in 90 minutes.

Geronimo Rulli thwarted Lewis Dunk from the decisive spot-kick in that fourth-round tie, and Enzo Maresca's men will be at home again in the last eight.

League One promotion contenders Bradford will visit the Etihad Stadium following their 2-0 success over Peterborough, while the only other lower-league side still in the competition were also handed an eye-catching tie.

Fleetwood, who became just the seventh League Two team to beat a top-six team from the top flight when they overcame Arsenal on spot-kicks on Tuesday, will host either Everton or Newcastle United.

The Toffees and the Magpies – who won the EFL Cup in 2024-25 to end a domestic trophy drought spanning 70 years – will face off on Thursday, in the final tie of the fourth round.

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola will face another reunion with his former club Bournemouth in the last eight, after masterminding a 1-0 success at the Vitality Stadium in September.

The Reds overcame Chelsea 6-5 in a shoot-out on Wednesday, having drawn 1-1 with their rivals in regulation time, while Bournemouth thrashed Aston Villa 3-0 to extend their winning run to five games in all competitions.

The final quarter-final tie will pit Crystal Palace against Sunderland, after they eliminated Fulham and Brentford, respectively, in the fourth round.
