Nottingham Forest are feeling the impact of Elliot Anderson’s £116 million move to Manchester City in the summer.

The Reds star was always going to leave the City Ground at the end of the 2025/26 campaign. He helped Forest remain in the Premier League for another season and also reach the Europa League semi-finals.

Would you prefer Oliver Glasner to try this for a few games or stick with his 3-4-2-1?

Anderson was raved about for England at the World Cup. As a result, City upped the ante and decided to move for the central midfielder ahead of fierce rivals Manchester United.

Now, the young midfielder is proving himself with each passing week, and last night, as City romped to victory in the Champions League, Anderson ticked off another milestone for his new club.

Williams remains good friends with Anderson after his exit from Forest. The pair struck up a good relationship during their time together at Forest and clearly, he’s hoping his former teammate will do well at his new club.

Last night, Anderson opened the scoring for City as they thrashed AEK Athens 5-1 to leave the Citizens sitting pretty in the Champions League group stage.

After the game, Anderson reacted on Instagram, with Williams posting three applause emojis to his former teammate and the ex-Forest number eight.

Forest only added Xaver Schlager to their ranks in the summer window when it comes to the midfield ranks. James McAtee is being deployed in the engine room by Oliver Glasner, but perhaps another player is needed.

With Forest in 19th place in the Premier League, there is an argument that Anderson needed replacing, and now it remains to be seen if the club will press ahead with the signing of a new midfielder in the January window.
