Ryston Runners battled blustery conditions at races across East Anglia, while two club members enjoyed record-breaking success in sunnier Spanish surroundings.
With strong winds making life difficult for competitors at the Fen Ten and Duxford Dash, Ryston’s athletes refused to let the weather spoil another successful weekend.
At the Fen Ten, held over a windswept ten-mile course around West Walton and the Walpoles, the club’s women were particularly impressive.
Kirsty Butters claimed first place in the F45 category, finishing in 1:16:29, while Pauline Sparrow secured F75 honours in 1:28:25.
Lynne Howlett continued the club’s winning streak, taking the F70 title in 1:31:33, while Linda Marshall finished runner-up in the F60 category.
Among the men, Jit Patel earned third place in the M70 category with a time of 1:23:34.
Trevor Lamb led Ryston’s finishers home in 1:13:44, followed by Dan Pratt in 1:15:10 and Butters.
At the Duxford Dash, eight Ryston athletes tackled the 5K and 10K events, including several newer members making their first competitive appearances in club colours.
Andy Lucraft Townley secured third place in the M40 category in the 5K, clocking 21:37, while Sabrina Neal took second F40 honours in the 10k with 49:13.
Meanwhile, Ruth and Chris Chadwick enjoyed calmer conditions at the Valencia Half Marathon in Spain.
Ruth celebrated moving into a new age category by setting a club age-group record of 1:45:38, finishing fifth in her category overall and second among British F60 competitors.
Chris completed the 13.1-mile course in 1:59:05.
The performances capped another rewarding weekend for the club.
