Swindon Town's Teddy Moulder impresses in Supermarine loan

Last week, Swindon sent Moulder out to the Southern League Division One South on a one-month loan to gain some senior experience after impressing with the under-18s.

Since Bobby Wilkinson took over at the Imagine Cruising Stadium at the start of last season, he has spoken about having close ties with Town, and has helped to develop a number of young players, like Lucas Myers, Owen Foye, and George Alston.

Moulder became the latest to head across town to join Supermarine, and he was quickly thrust into action as they looked to keep up their assault on the top of the table, with them locked in a scrap for first place with Weymouth and Dorchester Town.

With a few senior players unavailable against Worcester Raiders on Monday, Moulder came in to make his first senior start at the heart of the back four, alongside Zach Rugman, Tawana Changa, and Jowan Partridge.

For the second time in a week, Supermarine left it late to snatch a win, but the youngster drew some rave reviews for his debut display.

The 17-year-old was named man of the match, praised for being “strong in the tackle, commanding in the air, and composed in his distribution.”

Loans at Supermarine under Wilkinson have generally seen players eased gently into action coming in and out of the team, with him using his background in academy football to help the players, but Moulder certainly made an impression in his first start.

He will be hoping to build on that against Hartpury this weekend, as Supermarine look to continue their sensational start to the campaign.

This continues a strong start to the season for the academy, with Louis Millard the obvious highlight after breaking into the first team as a key option in attack.

Lucas Griffiths-Brown and Charlie Summers have both earned professional contracts at the start of their second scholarship year, and have made a strong impression on Ian Holloway.

There have also been professional debuts for Freddie Hoare, the club’s youngest-ever starter, and Briel Da Costa, and Josh Terry made the subs bench for both Jersey Mike’s Trophy games, after Zak Sowe and Ben Head made their mark during pre-season.

This has coincided with the club’s entry into the Next Wave Championship, an under-21 league that gives the opportunity for the under-18s to play up and also helps senior players gain fitness.
