The Houston-area had the spotlight on it during last week's slate of high school football action as two of the area's best squared off to determine who the best in the city was.
Dallas would not be outdone though as one of its areas top programs had to hold off a furious second-half comeback. In short, it was a good week of high school football action in the Lone Star State.
Here are our updated rankings for the top 10 high school football teams in Texas.
Ty Snell's shown his arm talent all season but on Friday, in a 77-14 win over Jesuit (TX), he showed he's got the wheels to be a dual threat as well. The rising sophomore finished the evening 16-of-19 passing for 255 yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for 96 yards and three touchdowns on only four carries.
The Panthers have yet to play a close game this season and on Friday, they made it back-to-back 70-point performances. North Crowley rolled against Skyline (TX), beating the Raiders 75-3.
Against a team he had never beaten, King senior quarterback Khylan Davis was at his best. Davis passed for 146 yards, ran for 92 yards and accounted for five touchdowns as the Panthers beat North Shore 42-21 for their first ever win over the Mustangs.
Leading by 21 at the half, Waxahachie looked well on its way to a blowout win over Duncanville (TX). It ended up being much closer than the Indians may have hoped as the Panthers held them scoreless in the second half, tacked on two more touchdowns of their own and came up short on one final drive, giving Waxahachie the 35-28 home win.
It may not have been another night where the Lions scored 70 or 80 points, but it was another blowout win for one Houston's best as Randle rolled over Freeman (TX) 51-3. Texas five-star running back commit Landen Williams-Callis continued toward 10,000 career rushing yards with another huge night, finishing with four touchdowns.
Down from the jump, the Mustangs made it an eight-point game late in the first half against King. That would be the closest they got though as they suffered their first loss of the year in blowout fashion.
While the Eagles did pass for over 200 yards in their 64-7 win over McKinney Boyd (TX), they leaned on a rushing attack that finished with 292 yards on 43 carries. Five different players for Prosper found the end zone on the ground as they scored seven rushing touchdowns as a team.
SaRod Baker (123 yards, one touchdown) and Wyatt Davis (50 yards, two touchdowns) anchored a ground game for the Eagles that finished with 181 yards in their 51-6 win over Cedar Hill (TX). Baker, a four-star Texas Tech commit, also played quarterback, throwing for 70 yards and another touchdown on seven completions.
On a night where the Golden Bears outgained Adamson (TX) by 395 yards, they once again were in cruise control en route to a 52-0 win. Demaj Bass scored on each of his two carries, totaling 75 yards, while Kenneth Young also only had two carries totaling 70 yards and a touchdown.
Offensively, the Dragons weren't overly sharp as they were out-gained by Byron Nelson (Trophy Club, TX) by 50 yards in a 38-10 win over the Bobcats. However, the defense forced four crucial turnovers and the Dragons took over in the third quarter, scoring 22 points.
