Oliver Bearman has made clear that staying with Haas is his preferred option for the 2027 Formula 1 season.

Speaking to the media on Thursday ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix, Bearman said his intention was to continue with the American team. Haas has not yet officially confirmed his place publicly for next year.

“It’s very clear I want to continue with Haas and that’s definitely my goal,” Bearman said. “There’s a few things in the background that we’re working on, but it’s been very clear that continuing with Haas will be my target and we’re just finalising a few things on that front.”

Asked when an announcement might be made, Bearman said he did not know. He added that he would have preferred the news to be confirmed earlier, but said wider considerations were still being worked through.

“It’s not really in my hands,” Bearman said. “If it was up to me, it would already have been announced a long time ago, but there are a few bigger picture things that we’re working on.”

Haas has confirmed that Esteban Ocon will leave the team after the 2026 season. Ferrari junior Rafael Camara, leading the Formula 2 standings, is expected to take Ocon’s place and partner Bearman, although the Briton’s deal remains unannounced. Those discussions are ongoing.

Bearman is currently 13th in the drivers’ championship, 16 points ahead of team-mate Ocon. Mexico City could be a promising venue for him: he recorded his best Formula 1 result there, finishing fourth.

Ocon, meanwhile, is seeking a place on the grid for 2027. The Frenchman said in Mexico that he was speaking with several teams, but declined to comment specifically on reports linking him with Cadillac, where a seat alongside Sergio Perez could be available.

“Of course, we are talking with a lot of people on the grid at the moment,” Ocon said. “I feel like I have unfinished business in F1. I’m still very young, I still have a lot of things to achieve and that’s where I want to be in the future.”

Ocon’s departure from Haas leaves his next move unresolved, while Bearman awaits clarity on his future. The Briton has stated his preference: he wants to remain with Haas as the team prepares for a new driver line-up in 2027.

No announcement date has been given, and Bearman said the remaining discussions involve matters beyond his control.
