Máximo Quiles won the Malaysian Moto3 Grand Prix from pole position, taking his 11th victory of the season ahead of rookie Veda Pratama and Álvaro Carpe. The reigning world champion initially ceded the lead to David Almansa but reclaimed it at the final corner within the first third of the race.

From that point, Quiles steadily increased his pace, building a three-second gap with three laps remaining. He managed this advantage to cross the finish line unchallenged.

Pratama takes podium as Danish falters

Behind Quiles, Indonesian rookie Veda Pratama fended off multiple challengers to secure a crucial podium finish. Local favorite Hakim Danish, buoyed by the home crowd, was poised for a strong result but faltered in the closing stages.

Positioned third entering the final lap, Danish launched an attack in turn 3 that ultimately proved overly ambitious. Álvaro Carpe capitalized on this misjudgment to take the final podium position, relegating Danish to fourth.

Almansa and Uriarte lose ground

Early race leader David Almansa set the pace initially but was unable to withstand Quiles’s charge. Although Almansa rejoined the leading group, a minor mistake in the closing laps dropped him to fifth place.

Brian Uriarte, who started second on the grid, suffered a poor start that saw him tumble to 11th within the opening corners. Despite efforts to claw back, Uriarte finished ninth, unable to bridge the gap to the front runners.

The race also saw its share of setbacks. Matteo Bertelle crashed out at turn 9 on lap three, while Joel Kelso fell at turn 4 during the final stages, despite being competitive for a top position. Jesus Rios, Scott Ogden and Rico Salmela also failed to complete the race.

The Malaysian Moto3 race underscored Máximo Quiles’s relentless pursuit of victory and showcased emerging talents like Veda Pratama, setting the stage for the continuation of the season.
