Bomani Jones criticized Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni over his explanation of Jalen Hurts’ situation. The star quarterback is reportedly set to miss the rest of the season after doctors discovered multiple blood clots in his lungs.

On an episode of The Right Time with Bomani Jones, Jones argued that Sirianni shouldn’t have addressed the situation in front of the media, since he wasn’t qualified to discuss the medical details. Jones stated that Hurts’ “situation was bad and embarrassing” as the Eagles failed to handle it properly.

“I don’t really know what happened here, but it doesn’t seem like his agent and the team have beef, so I’m kind of inclined to believe what the team tells us,” Jones said. “However, I am also inclined to believe that the team don’t feel good about what they did because they sent mumbles out there to try to explain.”

“They sent Nick Sirianni out there by himself to explain something we know he’s not qualified to explain, and we know that because he can’t explain the offense.”

Jalen Hurts is expected to undergo treatment that will sideline him for at least three months. The Eagles have faced scrutiny over how they have handled Hurts’ health concerns, with several questions emerging during Sirianni’s media interaction.

When Sirianni was asked why he let Hurts take the field after a doctor allegedly advised the quarterback to remain awake for 36 hours, the decision raised further concerns about how the team managed the situation.

“I’m not a medical expert,” he said, per NBC Sports. “I lean on our guys in all those situations. I’m a football coach. I lean on our medical folks in every situation. I have full trust and full faith in them. It’s not just me who has major care for our players; it’s them as well. We are all there, and I’m glad to be part of an organization that cares about our guys the way ours do.”

Sirianni noted that Tom Pelissero tweaked his report to clarify that the quarterback got some sleep before the game.

Jalen Hurts’ Agent and the Eagles Released a Statement About His Condition

Jalen Hurts was initially diagnosed with a superficial blood clot in his calf, raising concerns among fans about his health and why he was still being allowed to play.

His agent and the Philadelphia Eagles later released a statement revealing that Hurts had deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli. The condition meant that blood clots had formed in his veins, with clots traveling from his legs to his lungs.

“Jalen’s prognosis is very good, and we expect a full recovery,” the statement read. “We anticipate that he will have the opportunity to resume contact football activities when off the blood thinners.”

Hurts will not be allowed to participate in any contact activities, including football, while on blood thinners.
