Callum O'Hare backing himself to break Wrexham duck

Brought in from Championship rivals Sheffield United on deadline day, the attacking midfielder has made seven league starts and a substitute appearance but is yet to open his Reds account.

O'Hare was again at the heart of Wrexham's attacking play in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Blackburn Rovers but was unable to find the clinical touch.

Despite the frustration, the 28-year-old takes encouragement from the number of opportunities he is getting.

"I'm getting the chances which I'm always going to get," he said.

"I feel like once one goes in, then I'm getting the chances to keep scoring so I have just got to keep pushing to get that (first goal)."

O'Hare has operated behind the front-two of Kieffer Moore and Sam Smith in the last two games and he is is happy to play wherever Phil Parkinson needs him having been used in a variety of roles throughout his career.

"I have played in loads of different formations, loads of different positions, and I'm happy to play wherever. I just give my all and do what I can do," he said.

Although Wrexham had 23 attempts at Ewood Park, there were few decent chances and only one was on target, with Blackburn goalkeeper Balazs Toth having very little to do.

O'Hare bemoaned the Reds' failure to make the most of promising openings, with Blackburn proving more ruthless in front of goal.

"We managed to make a few chances, a lot of half chances, and we just weren't good enough to take them," he said.

"We just couldn't get that breakthrough. It wasn't like last week (the 4-1 win at home to Preston) where we scored, then we got knocked back, and then we scored again.

"Blackburn went ahead, we were pushing and we just didn't get that breakthrough and then they ended up scoring again. They were more clinical.

"It's frustrating. After last week's win, we wanted to come here and put a good performance on and get a win, but that wasn't the case.

"We gave everything we could, we just ultimately weren't good enough on the pitch.

"We tried but we just couldn't get the ball in the net, and that's what football is.

"You need to score, especially when you're on top in the game, and we didn't do that, and then they scored and punished us."

O'Hare believes the game could have turned out different had Wrexham converted one of the numerous openings they created.

"We had a lot of half chances that I feel like we could have done better with every one," he added.

"I feel like if one of them went in, you never know, we might have ended up taking another one.

"But that's football. They took their chances and they punished us."
