Katie Boulter lost to Katerina Siniakova in the semi-finals of the Japan Open on Saturday.

Siniakova won in straight sets, 6-1 6-4.

Boulter had reached her third WTA semi-final of the 2026 season and she has reclaimed her place as British No 1.

But her run came to an end in Osaka with Siniakova starting their semi-final match up strongly. The Czech won the first five games of the match and Boulter had to save a set point to win her first game.

Boulter stirred hopes of a fightback when she broke Siniakova but the Czech soon seized back control. The Briton showed greater resistance in that second set but Siniakov eventually served out a victory.
