Luke Goedeke earns PFF team of the week honors

Luke Goedeke is getting some well-deserved recognition after helping the Tampa Bay Buccaneers put together one of the most dominant rushing performances in franchise history. The veteran right tackle earned a spot on Pro Football Focus' NFL Team of the Week for his performance against the Atlanta Falcons, earning a spot among the league's top offensive players through Week 8. Tampa Bay rushed for a franchise-record 324 yards on 56 carries in its 16-0 win over Atlanta, doing it without completing a single pass. With Baker Mayfield attempting just three passes in a divisional matchup, the Buccaneers leaned heavily on their offensive line to create running lanes, and Goedeke delivered one of his best performances of the season.

Goedeke finished with an 88.4 overall grade, the highest among right tackles in Week 8. His 90.3 run-blocking grade led the position, and his 94.0 grade on zone runs was also the best among qualifying tackles. He handled 53 run-blocking snaps, consistently creating opportunities for Tampa Bay's backs to get downhill and make plays. His performance mattered because the Buccaneers relied so heavily on the ground game. Bucky Irving finished with 170 rushing yards on 27 carries, while Kenneth Gainwell added another 140 yards on 25 attempts. Together, they totaled 310 yards, with each forcing multiple missed tackles and producing explosive runs.

Goedeke and Tristan Wirfs were instrumental in making that production possible. While Wirfs also earned an impressive 85.9 run-blocking grade, Goedeke's ability to execute Tampa Bay's zone concepts stood out throughout the afternoon. The recognition also reinforces how important Tampa Bay's offensive line has become to the team's identity. The Buccaneers have found success controlling games on the ground, and that starts with having tackles who can consistently win their assignments against opposing defensive fronts. The Buccaneers have invested in keeping their offensive line together, and performances like this demonstrate exactly why that group remains one of their biggest strengths.
