Following a Week 8 win over the Colts, where do the Jacksonville Jaguars currently stand in the AFC playoff race?
When it comes to the AFC South crown, the Jaguars are sitting comfortably, to say the least. While the Jaguars have a record of 5-2, the Houston Texans are in second place at 2-5. The Colts are just 2-6 and the Titans 1-7.
In the big picture of the AFC playoff standings, Jacksonville is currently the four seed -- the last spot awarded to a division winner. Buffalo is at the top of the conference at 6-1; Denver and Pittsburgh are each 6-2, with the Broncos holding the tie-breaker over the Steelers for the two seed.
With the Jaguars in clear control of their division, the three aforementioned teams are the ones to focus on. Those will be the teams that Jacksonville is chasing. The Chiefs (5-2), Bengals (5-2), Patriots (5-3), and Browns (5-3) are all wildcard teams at the moment, which doesn't apply to the Jaguars since they are in control of the AFC South.
Bills 6-1
Broncos 6-2
Steelers 6-2
Jaguars 5-2
Chiefs 5-2
Bengals 5-2
Patriots 5-3
Next up for the Jaguars is a Thursday night matchup with the 4-4 Ravens on the road.
