'Sometimes it happens when you are playing international cricket after a while' - Ambati Rayudu backs Bhuvneshwar Kumar after Eden Park snub

Ambati Rayudu expressed confidence in Bhuvneshwar Kumar's ability to bounce back after the pacer was dropped from India's playing XI for the fourth T20I against New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland.

At Eden Park in Auckland on Friday, October 30, India made a significant change to their bowling attack for the fourth T20I against New Zealand. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who had featured in the opening three matches of the five-match series, was left out of the playing XI. The pacer's performance across those three outings had been difficult, with figures of 0/49, 1/50 and 0/40 leaving him with just one wicket and 139 runs conceded across 12 T20Is in the series. Mayank Yadav, who had last played in the series opener, returned to replace him.

Ambati Rayudu, speaking after the decision, offered perspective on Bhuvneshwar's situation. The veteran batter acknowledged that the pacer's recent return to international cricket after a considerable gap meant that early struggles were not uncommon. Rayudu expressed confidence that Bhuvneshwar possessed the temperament and experience to navigate this setback and rediscover his form.

"I don't think he will do anything different. He is not someone who goes too high after a good [performance] or goes too low with failures, so he will keep his composure. He knows how to come back; he knows how to perform. Sometimes it happens when you are playing international cricket after a while. Things might not go as planned," Rayudu was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.

Bhuvneshwar's return to international cricket had come in the fifth T20I against West Indies in Bengaluru earlier in the month, though he did not bowl a single over as the match was washed out due to rain. The Eden Park omission marked his first exclusion from the playing XI since that comeback. His three appearances in the New Zealand series had tested his rhythm and consistency as he worked to regain match fitness at the highest level.

Mayank Yadav's inclusion proved decisive in the fourth T20I. The pacer took three wickets while bowling four overs and conceding 48 runs. New Zealand won the match by 87 runs to make the series stand at 3-1 in favour of the tourists with a game to spare.
