Giants have expressed interest in acquiring Colts RB Jonathan Taylor

The New York Giants are among the teams that have expressed interest in trading for Indianapolis Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor, with discussions described as active and ongoing, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The list of teams that have expressed at least some level of interest in trading for Taylor so far is thought to include the Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks, sources said.

The Colts are now open to dealing the 27-year-old three-time Pro Bowler as part of a broader roster reset. Indianapolis has already moved Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson and Pro Bowl defensive tackle DeForest Buckner in recent days, collecting a 2027 third-round pick, a 2027 fourth-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick in return.

The organization is seeking a comparable package for Taylor, modeled after the second-, third-, fourth- and fifth-round picks the San Francisco 49ers sent to Carolina for Christian McCaffrey in 2022.

For the Giants, the interest arrives at a logical moment. With Tyrone Tracy Jr. on injured reserve (IR) due to a hamstring injury and the backfield currently centered on Cam Skattebo and Devin Singletary, adding a proven lead back could strengthen the group for the stretch run and beyond.

Taylor enters Sunday’s game with 587 rushing yards and eight touchdowns this season, tying him for the NFL lead in scores. He ranks second in Colts history with 8,185 career rushing yards and holds the franchise record with 77 rushing touchdowns.

Taylor remains under contract through 2028, with $15 million due in 2027 and $9.46 million in 2028 after receiving a $15 million signing bonus before the season.

Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon met with him this week and is said to prefer keeping him as part of the rebuild, yet the franchise recognizes the value he could bring in a trade. Taylor has not requested a move and is expected to play against Jacksonville on Sunday, but the Giants’ reported interest places them firmly in the conversation as the Nov. 10 deadline approaches.
