Cadwallader experienced a "medical event" at Edinburgh's Radisson Blu hotel on the Royal Mile on Sunday morning. The tragedy occurred less than a week before the All Blacks are scheduled to face Scotland at Murrayfield in the Nations Championship.

In a statement, the All Blacks described Cadwallader as "a much-loved and respected member of the All Blacks group". Head coach Dave Rennie said: "Logan has been a big part of the All Blacks family for a long time. He was the ultimate team man, loved and trusted by all and a true professional. He looked after all of us, players and staff, and he was a good mate to many in this team. We are all devastated.

"Our thoughts are with his wife, Nannette, his children, Trey, Brooke and Mia, and his wider family and friends. As a team, we will honour Logan and the legacy he has left on the All Blacks."

Chief executive Steve Lancaster added: "Logan was a valued and trusted member of the management group over the past decade, and he will be greatly missed by everyone who worked alongside him. On behalf of New Zealand Rugby, I extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends at this very difficult time."

Prior to his role with the All Blacks, Cadwallader served in the New Zealand army and the New Zealand Special Air Service regiment (NZSAS), where he was deployed to some of the world's most challenging environments. The All Blacks paid tribute to Cadwallader on their social media channels, with the post garnering significant attention from prominent squad members, including Will Jordan and Jordie Barrett, reports the Mirror.

This weekend's fixture marks the 34th encounter between Scotland and New Zealand since 1905. Despite never having claimed victory over the All Blacks, Scotland have shown considerable improvement, narrowing last year's defeat to just eight points after battling back from a 17-0 deficit.

New Zealand secured their place in the Nations Championship after sweeping all three of their summer matches, with upcoming bouts against Scotland, Wales, and England at Twickenham on the horizon.

Scotland, meanwhile, have enjoyed a solid campaign, claiming five wins from eight matches this season. Having shaken off a disheartening defeat to Italy in their Six Nations opener, they have since toppled England, France, and Argentina.
