The Chicago Bears extended their record to 5-2 on the season during their Thursday Night Football against the New England Patriots.
Despite being without their starting quarterback for a number of weeks, the Bears have been able to maintain a healthy position with Caleb Williams now returning from his injury. It is now time for the Bears to really kick on with their season.
Williams returned at the weekend to help secure victory over the Atlanta Falcons as the Bears once again look like a real contender for the NFC. However, what the quarterback has heard from Richard Sherman has not been to his liking.
The former Seattle Seahawks cornerback was working with Amazon Prime for the broadcast of Thursday Night Football and Williams took the opportunity to call out Sherman for not having the Bears in his top five rankings.
The victory on Thursday saw the Bears claim second spot in the NFC North but they still trail the Minnesota Vikings who are yet to lose this season. As a result, Sherman did not include the Bears in his top five teams as he shared his power rankings earlier in the week.
“It’s great. That time off just added a little bit more to me, and I’m going to keep bringing that energy, that fire in my eyes. I’m going to release it to my teammates and hopefully to the fans. They feel my energy, and hopefully we can get in your [Sherman’s] top five,” Williams said on the post-game show.
Putting that sack to one side, it was another really impressive performance from Williams who threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns on his return to Soldier Field. With their Week Seven game now in the books, the Bears can enjoy a mini-Bye Week ahead of their trip to Seattle.

Although the Seahawks are struggling on offense, their defense will certainly provide Williams something to think about. Securing a victory over Seattle would also be a great way to earn some further respect from Sherman as he knows all too well just how good Mike Macdonald’s defense really is.
